The upcoming new General pool was also pointed out to me by our local ARRL Section Manager today. :-) Yeah, I guess it's time. Let me download the new pool and see how well it drops in. Sometimes it's pretty easy. But sometimes they make it difficult for automated parsing of the text by not keeping a consistent format. I found and fixed a couple text parsing issues. I'm still looking for the reason why it says it found 482 questions when NCVEC says there are 484. So we probably have at least 2 problems still to solve. Give it a try and let us know if you see any problems. Steve 27. When may you participate as a VE in administering an amateur radio license examination? A. Once your General class license appears in the FCC's ULS database B. Once you have been granted your General class license and received your VEC accreditation G1E - Control categories; repeater regulations; harmful interference; third party rules; ITU regions C. Once you have a Certificate of Successful Completion of Examination (CSCE) for General class D. Yeah, you're right. Your observation pointed out a widespread problem. They've added line breaks to the file where it used to keep questions and answers each on single lines. I fixed it manually in the input file for now. It gives me a year to add it to the parser before next time (or do it manually again.) Though it still says 482 questions. :-) From ik-web at thunder.sbay.org Wed Jun 20 10:27:12 2007 From: ik-web at thunder.sbay.org (Ian Kluft) Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2007 10:27:12 -0700 Subject: [RadioExam Dev] New General Pool In-Reply-To: <6ACA8350315331429DD2E433A39D2FB4015093C3@CIN-EVS-W-2.DS.DFAS.MIL> References: <6ACA8350315331429DD2E433A39D2FB40148D77C@CIN-EVS-W-2.DS.DFAS.MIL> <20070617064528.GA15484@thunder.sbay.org> <20070617073744.GA20471@thunder.sbay.org> <6ACA8350315331429DD2E433A39D2FB4015093C3@CIN-EVS-W-2.DS.DFAS.MIL> Message-ID: <20070620172712.GA21390@thunder.sbay.org> On Wed, Jun 20, 2007 at 09:15:49AM -0400, HASCALL, DAVID wrote: > Thanks ***SO*** much for your efforts. Thanks. The word "Subelement" was missing from its title. So that's fixed now. > 2. That way you can test one, two, several or > all, at one time. Just a suggestion. That's a good idea. I originally wrote the software the way I taught a class - one subelement at a time. But you're right that it would help to allow more than one as you're getting ready. I accept the suggestion. I don't yet have an estimate how much work it'll take - some code may need to be reorganized. It may be a while.
